taken by the Americans will work, and to what
extent if at all there will be silver over
available for China after other demands have been
met. But in view of the general shortage all
round it does not seem at all likely that they can
have 10,000,000 ounces by the end of October:-or
even es Addis puts it by the end of the year.
For the moment I am afraid we must await
developments and see how the new regime works. But
you may wish perhaps to warn the Governor of Hong Kong confidentially that it will probably be
necessary for China markets to be satisfied with
very much less than 10,000,000 ounces in the time
he mentions.
I will let you know any further
developments.
